Marriage, which is the committed relationship between a man and a woman, is God’s idea.  The purpose of marriage is to glorify God—by displaying a clear picture to the world of Christ and His Church, and by becoming “...heirs together of the grace of life… [having a God-bless’d marriage with children, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren…].” 1 Peter 3:7.  Marriage is God’s way of helping us develop proven character (which we take with us into eternity), and blessing us with the joys of intimacy—both with Him and with our one-flesh partner.

The prerequisites for success on this journey is a commitment to God through Jesus Christ, a commitment to each other, and a commitment to the community of faith. There is no way in which to fulfill God’s purposes in marriage without these commitments.  With these commitments firmly in place, one is ready to step on to the path of intimacy.

On a journey, especially in unknown territory, one will need a map and some guide posts.  God’s Word is our roadmap and God’s people provide guideposts.  The leadership team at DSC is committed to provide the support needed through Biblical teaching on marriage and through support groups.

DSC’s Marriage Ministry Leaders

The purpose of this ministry is:

· To equip and strengthen marriages by helping couples discover God's plan for their marriage as well as their unique roles as husband and wife through the study of His Word

· To encourage and support couples in their marriage relationship

· To connect couples with other couples in the body of Christ through fellowship so we can continually support and encourage one another

· To provide couples the opportunity to serve the body of Christ together

Whether newlyweds or seasoned in years of marriage, we all need to learn more about what God has to say to us regarding marriage and we need support and encouragement in our marriage relationship.

This ministry is a great way to get involved and to get to know other couples within the church body.
