Unborn Children...
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” Proverbs 31:8
There’s something very good about the country we live in. We value the life of innocent human beings. We’re fighting a war in Iraq because an evil dictator was putting the lives of innocent people at risk. But perhaps I’m not getting something here. Why is it that we Americans who say we hate the taking of innocent life, are O.K. with the legalizing of abortion—the taking of the lives of the most innocent and defenseless people—the innocent people in the womb? We have laws in our own land that legalize the killing of the most innocent of all human beings—Jesus’ little ones in the womb.
Yes, until now, God has had mercy on us as a nation—for the killing of millions of innocent children each year. Yes, we ought to continue fighting to protect innocent people in other lands, but we must first rid ourselves of our own national sins. The more we raise our voices for the protection of innocent life in other lands, but continue to legalize the killing of the innocent in our own land, the more hypocritical we become. We ought not to take lightly God’s mercy, but to allow His kindness to lead us to repentance—as a nation, as a Church (for our passivity).
A note to God’s people—especially those Shepherds—those Pastors—who like to think of themselves as deeply caring—especially for innocent children who are in harms way: Yes, the Shepherd/Pastor is to feed and care for the sheep, but his first job is to protect innocent sheep from those who would do them harm. May we, as deeply caring Pastors, let our hearts break with God over this holocaust in our land called abortion. May we cry out to Him in prayer, and may we raise our voices in outrage in the public square and may we use our God-given position to mobilize God’s people to make a difference in our vote (i.e. vote “pro-life” candidates into power—verses “pro-death” candidates, and encourage our people to do the same). How can a true shepherd do any less?
This is no little issue in our day. We raise our voices for innocent people in other lands while we are virtually silent as the innocent unborn are legally being killed in our own land. What does this make us? Inconsistent at least, hypocrites at worst. Why aren’t we praying, “O Father in Heaven, protect our nation from terrorists TO THE SAME DEGREE that we, Your people, protect Your little lambs from the terrorism that’s happening every day in the womb. In Jesus Name.”? I would challenge any Christian to pray that prayer—just once (it’s only fear that would keep us from praying this gutsy prayer). By praying this prayer sincerely, there’s no way we couldn’t experience the sobering, convicting touch of God’s Holy Spirit.
You and I have a holy stewardship given to us by God. We, as American citizens, ARE the government (of the people, by the people and for the people) and we will answer to God as to how we stewarded our part in the governing of our land. Not voting at all is usually a vote for a pro-death candidate.
Think of those little ones in the womb. They’re looking to us for help. They’re looking to us to defend them—to give them a right to live. They just want a chance to live like you and I are living right now. Pray. Understand the seriousness of this issue; read about it (see www.epm.org— “Pro-Life Issues”); carry these little ones in your heart; talk to your Heavenly Father about these, His little ones; ask Him how He feels about these precious ones of His; vote pro-life. Continue to pray earnestly and keep in the fight until these precious, unborn, innocent little lambs of Jesus have the same rights as you and I do—for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Let’s do all we can to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Let’s “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…”
Crying out for those whose cries are not being heard, (though God hears their cries every day) Pastor Michael Ledner
NOTE: If you are a woman who has had an abortion, please look to the Lord—He’s waiting for you to cry out to Him so that He may bless you with healing and forgiveness and restoration in every area of your soul. He will not condemn—He came to be there for you in every way. Call a Crisis Pregnancy Center and ask them where there is a group in which you can process what happened so that you may receive God’s touch. We will help in any way possible. There are ladies in our congregation who have received wonderful healing from our Lord in this area and they’d be willing to help you.
